Fasting is the discipline of abstaining from food with the purpose of increasing our hunger for God.  Consecration is the act of separating ourselves from worldly activities to give ourselves to scripture study and prayer.

We are inviting you to select a fasting plan that works for you and to join us for prayer.

IMPORTANT:  Please consult your doctor if you are sick or have a medical condition or are taking certain medications (such as diabetes or high blood pressure).  If you are sick with the flu or similar condition, you may consider broth and soup and jello or fruit the first 3 days instead of just water.  Eating and drinking when you're sick is important because nutrition helps your immune system fight infection.  If you are pregnant, do not fast -- you are welcome to abstain from activities such as shopping, video games, social media, and TV.

First 3 Days

(Normal Fast -- Only Water (and 100% Juice or broth if needed for medical/health reasons).

Day 4-21

Daniel Fast (Fruits & Vegetables, & Whole Grains, Water & 100% Juice - if needed)

OR

You can do a Regular/Normal Fast but eat only one light/healthy meal a day (Meat is allowed, but it is suggested to avoid red meat or a lot of beef -- try fish, chicken, turkey; avoid foods such as pizza, potatoes, pasta, sweets, sodas...).

AFTER the first 3 days, if you choose the Daniel Fast, you can choose the following OPTIONS:

(1) You can eat fruit and vegetables throughout the day.

(2) You can fast until 6PM and then have a meal of vegetables and fruit. If you are not quite ready to fast until 6PM or have medical concerns, you can fast until 3PM.

(3) If you are NEW to fasting or have serious medical issues or are a teenager, you can fast until12 NOON and then continue regular healthy meals.

On the Daniel Fast, AVOID meat, dairy, coffee, caffiene, sugar, sweets, soda, junk food, fast food, bread, pasta, fried foods, high fat foods, etc.

AFTER the first 3 days, if you choose the Regular/Normal Fast, you can choose the following OPTIONS:

(1) You can fast until 6PM (OR 3 PM) and then have a regular meal (try to avoid red meat as it might be too hard on your system while fasting.  (Limit red meat, sugar, sweets, soda, junk food, fast food, bread, pasta, fried foods, high fat foods, etc.)

(2) If you are a youth or NEW to fasting or have serious medical issues, you can fast until 12:00 NOON and continue your normal meals.

ADVANCED OPTION:  After Day 3, If you are experienced with fasting or feel led to go deeper, you can fast with NO food (water only/maybe broth or juice at mealtimes) for an extended time -- you can try a week at first and go from there.  Be led of the Lord because fasting done improperly can be dangerous.

On a normal fast, you typically go without food of any kind for a certain number of days. You do drink water, and plenty of it! Depending on the length of the normal fast, you may also choose to take clear broth and juices in order to maintain your strength.

NOTE TO PARENTS:  If you have young children, but you would like to train them: you may have them fast desserts and sodas and certain items for a certain time.  You may also choose to restrict TV, video games, and social media for a certain time.  Teenagers (who understand what fasting is) can fast one meal and abstain from the above mentioned activities.

Important Tips:

(1) Pray at least 3 times a day.  (If you feel weak, pray!)

(2) Read your Bible and meditate as much as you can. (Try to seek the Lord through the word in the morning, on your lunch, and in the evening.)

(3) Limit TV, social media, video games, unnecessary shopping, excessive talking, etc. during this time also.

(4) DRINK PLENTY OF WATER (6-8 glasses each day) Toxins are being released from your body, and the water will help with that process.

(5) If you choose an absolute fast, please remember that fasting without prayer and without being led of God can be dangerous -- because fasting without prayer and without being led of God is just going without eating, please pray and ask God what type of fasting you should be doing.

(6) The Daniel Fast is a healthy way of eating; however, please consult your physician about the Daniel Fast (plant-based eating) if you still have concerns.

Spiritual & Physical Benefits of Daniel Fast

Goals & Essential Wisdom

The type of fast you go on is based on your relationship with God. You can create a special consecration using any combination of the fasts listed below. Be advised that we are fasting for a total of 21 days. Your consecration is private and should only be shared with your spouse, accountability partner(s), or key family members when necessary. If you should fall prey to any sin, including breaking the fast, you should repent and keep going. Whatever you do honor your fast and consecration. Write it down and follow it.

If you do not start on day one, for whatever reason, get on board as soon as possible. It is better to join the body in consecration than to stay in demonic bondages and disobedience. If you have any medical conditions you should consult with your doctor to make sure you are in medical compliance.

Note: The fast will begin on Monday, January 8th at 6:00 AM and end on Sunday, January 28th, 2024.

Remember, the fast will only be beneficial if you consecrate. The act of consecrating is simply spending time with God in prayer, meditation, study, etc. three times daily (if possible).  If you are going to empty out, you ought to pour into your spirit.

No junk food, fast foods, processed snacks or candies should be consumed during this consecration. Also, avoid sodas, milkshakes, non-health smoothies, coffee / tea and all non-essential liquids. This consecration should help you and not hurt you.

Finally, exercising at least three times weekly will also help you even if it is nothing but a brisk mile or half-mile walk in your neighborhood or mall. If you are on the absolute fast without water and vitamins or vegetable supplements, vigorous activity or exercise is not recommended. Again, please consult with your physician if you have any health issues and govern yourself accordingly. God does everything decently and in order.

Other Fasting Plans/Types

1. THE ABSOLUTE FAST

This fast is all day and every day.  This fast has no bodily intake.  You should start with prayer.   A 21-day absolute fast is not for a novice.   Thus, after you have prayed you should develop a personal consecration schedule based on your health and the leading of the Holy Spirit.  As an example, if you can only do 5 days absolute then you should continue your other 16 days with one of the other fasts below.   Remember, this fast has no food or liquid intake for the duration of the fast.  NOT ADVISED IF YOU ARE NEW TO FASTING AND ONLY ADVISED IF GOD IS LEADING YOU!  CONSULT A DOCTOR BEFORE ENGAGING THIS TYPE OF FAST!  (CONSIDER THE ALTERED VERSION BELOW)

2. THE ABSOLUTE ALTERED

There are two versions of this fast. Both have no solid food intake at all.

  1. the first version is done with water intake only.

  2. the second version is done with water, 100% juices diluted with water and/or vegetables, vitamins and other health supplements.

3. THE DANIEL FAST

This fast was used by Daniel and he received favor from the king. This fast consists of vegetables only. The best way to consume them for enzyme and vitamin retention is raw or steamed. However, they can be cooked without meat. Protein needs can be ingested through beans and nuts but do not overdo it.  This fast is best when taken with water only.  However, this fast can be altered with fresh fruit intake and one hundred percent juice diluted with water.

4. THE “ONE MEAL A DAY” FAST

This is a simple fast that requires you to choose one meal a day: breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There is no snacking in between and no other food intake except for this one meal. This meal should be healthy and not an opportunity to eat a “super happy meal”. This meal should be done in moderation and should be consistent for the twenty-one days. For example, if you choose breakfast, you only eat breakfast for the twenty-one days.

DETOX CONSECRATION (NOT A FAST BUT YOU MIGHT CONSIDER ANOTHER TIME UNDER MEDICAL SUPERVISION)

The detox consecration is not a fast. It is a means to purging the body of harmful toxins and free radicals. Each detox diet varies. You can get a detox plan and supplements from your local health foods store or consult your personal nutritionist or chiropractor.  If you utilize the detox regimen, again consult with your physician and follow the detox directions. Please feel free to add any of the above fasts to complete your consecration, if the detox is less than 21 days.

FINAL FAST & CONSECRATION INSTRUCTIONS

All of the aforementioned fasts should include specialized prayer times. Your media intake should be limited to no more than an hour a day - preferably less (consecration). Media includes television, video games, phones, internet and social networking sites (i.e.: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), smartphones, tablets and other entertainment devices unless utilized to receive or promote the gospel OR work. This newly freed time should now be used for prayer, meditation, journaling, and the study of God’s Word.

Lastly, when concluding your absolute fast, you should not shock your body with immediate heavy food intake. You should start with low sodium broths, soups, and graduate to grits, oatmeal, porridge, and cream of wheat. This transition should be gradual until your body is ready to resume regular food intake. This gradual food intake usually takes 3-5 days depending on the person. Remember your body is the temple, and it should be treated as such.  Please refrain from eating foods that will reverse your twenty-one day consecration. This consecration should benefit both your spiritual health and your physical health.

16 Ways to Experience & Maintain Personal Revival

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any unconfessed sin in your life.

  2. Seek forgiveness from all whom you have offended, and forgive all who have hurt you. Make restitution where God leads.

  3. Examine your motives in every word and deed. Ask the Lord to search and cleanse your heart daily.

  4. Ask the Holy Spirit to guard your walk against complacency and mediocrity.

  5. Praise and give thanks to God continually in all ways on all days, regardless of your circumstances.

  6. Refuse to obey your carnal (worldy) nature (Galatians 5:16,17).

  7. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Develop utter dependence on Him with total submission and humility.
